Image Hotlinking is now disabled

The Admin Team has decided to implement this rule that image hotlinking will now be disabled, and, is liable to be counted as a rule-break, should anyone be found to indulge in it.

What is Image Hotlinking?

Image Hotlinking is basically copying the URL of an image from a developers official site, or, some resellers site. The Image shown below will demonstrate what is Image Hotlinking.

Why is this step taken?

This is taken so that DotNXT is more secure. Mother Sites can track down other sites when their image is hotlinked.

What can you, as a poster do?

Use one of hundred's of Free Image Hosts. Here are just a few that support URL Image uploading, ie. just enter the image URL and it will automatically upload the image, so there is no need for you to save the image on your PC:

What are moderators supposed to do?

Since this rule is implemented site-wide, the moderators, if they encounter a hot-linked image, are required to remove it immediately. There are two routes the moderator can follow:

1: Replace the tags with code tags and put in a Moderated Message stating that hot-linking is not allowed.

2: Upload the image on any image host, replace the hotlinked image, and put in a moderated message that hotlinking is not allowed.

So, this is basically all about this new rule. All are requested to co-operate and follow this.
